NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 5, 2000--Helen Thomas, the former "dean" of the White House press corps who covered eight presidents from Kennedy to Clinton, has joined Hearst Newspapers as a Washington columnist. The announcement was made today by George B. Irish, president of Hearst Newspapers and senior vice president of The Hearst Corporation.
Thomas, who recently left her position at United Press International, will write two columns a week for the Hearst News Service (HNS) on topical national issues, beginning later this month. At HNS, she joins such other columnists as Marianne Means and Robert E. Thompson of Hearst Newspapers, as well as Rob Morse and Stephanie Salter of the San Francisco Examiner and Cragg Hines and Clay Robison of the Houston Chronicle.
